It’s Mindful May and I’m challenging myself to take time out to be more in the moment; create a calm and stillness in my life – who doesn’t need that right now; and take the time to enjoy those things that I’m always ‘too busy’ to do. In case you need some inspo, here are some things I’ll be trying in Mindful May.

The Dictionary of Lost Words
The Dictionary of Lost Words is set during the creation of the first Oxford English Dictionary more than a century ago. A time when the suffragette movement was blossoming and the great war loomed. Based on true events, it tells the story of the girl who took it upon herself to preserve ‘women’s words’ that were being neglected or discarded by the male lexicographers shaping the English language.
Already in its second reprint, Pip Williams debut novel is a must read. It was a pleasure to get lost in the world of Esme, her words and her cautious journey into the world of men.

Balance & other B.S
Balance & Other B.S is a conversational, funny and reassuring rallying cry for every woman who craves balance but is shouldering the mental load, too tired and crazy-busy to see solutions.
When Felicity Harley, founding editor of Women’s Health magazine and whimn.com.au, started talking to other women about their overwhelm, the floodgates opened. Turns out her girlfriends, colleagues and other mums at the school gate had been quietly worrying about the personal cost of modern life and why their wellness wasn’t working too.
In Balance & Other B.S, Felicity calls on a little help from her friends, Tanya Plibersek, Fifi Box and Sally Obermeder, to name a few, to get to the bottom of the myths around having it all; provide some positive and practical steps to help us all get through the day and remain sane.
Where to buy it: Balance & Other B.S $24.25
Paint ’til you faint
Art and craft can be like another form of meditation – as long as you don’t take it too seriously. I love to paint and I’m partial to a great art workshop. Jane Davenport, well known for her art workshops and stunning art supplies has just released Whimsical and Wild – Creature Creating Workshop. It’s based on the book of the same name. Like all of Jane’s workshops, you’ll get instant access and have a lifetime to complete the course. So, if you want to try some art therapy or suffer from ‘Rainbowitis’ this one might be for you.
Where to buy it: Whimsical and Wild $115USD
When life gets stressful it’s tempting to forgo the routines, turn on Netflix and grab a large glass of wine. In Mindful May I’ve decided to dedicate time both AM and PM to my beauty routine. I’m a definite minimalist when it comes to beauty routines, but here are some things I am going to try.
The Beauty Chef Glow Kit
Big fan of The Beauty Chef! Huge! I’ve been using both Glow Inner Beauty Essential and Collagen Inner Boost for years. Glow helps keep my gut in check, it’s the only thing I’ve found that does. The Collagen makes my skin glow and keep my nails strong. This kit includes:
GLOW Inner Beauty Essential: A daily beauty powder for radiant skin and gut health. Designed to boost collagen production and support healthy hair and nails with over 18 Certified Organic superfoods, vitamin C and zinc, this berry-flavoured probiotic supplement promotes resilient, luminous skin—from the inside out.
COLLAGEN Inner Beauty Boost: A vegan elixir to support collagen production, cultivate a smoother complexion and maintain healthy skin, hair and nails from the inside out. With bio-fermented goji berry, grape seed extract, zinc and vitamin C, it’s designed for those concerned with fine lines and premature ageing.

Here’s how Estee Lauder describe the product – Powerful nighttime renewal for radiant, youthful-looking skin. Instantly adds radiance. Intensely hydrates. Advanced Night Repair significantly reduces the look of key signs of ageing. It maximises the power of skin’s natural nighttime renewal with exclusive ChronoluxCB™ Technology. Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay Porefining Face Mask
As I age, I’m finding the pores on my face increasing in size, anyone else? I absolutely love the Sand & Sky face mask and whilst it doesn’t completely reduce the size of my pores, it seems to help. It also makes my skin feel clean and glowing afterwards. My promise to myself is to use it once a week during Mindful May. User tip – keep the lid on tight or the clay will dry out. Here’s what Sand & Sky have to say:
Sand & Sky says to use this product if – you want to deeply detoxify your skin and refine pores – in 10 minutes! You’re bugged by oiliness, congestion or pigmentation. You want a skincare saviour to combat daily pollution and dial up your glow.
Where to buy it: Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay Porefining Face Mask $69.90
Exercise – daily
I love to walk, especially on the beach. However, in Mindful May, with the weather cooling down and my mind and body needing something more than a walk. I’m going to give Fluidform Pilates a try. It’s something different for me and being able to workout from home is a real plus.
Where to buy it: Fluidform at home $49 per month (an at home equipment pack comes with the first month’s subscription)
When times are tough and the purse strings get tighter, it’s hard to justify spending any money on yourself. Like most things, as women, we tend to put ourselves last. I’ve decided, that this Mindful May, I’m going to save, even if it’s just a few gold coins every week, for something pretty. It might take me months to save, but I know from past experience, that the satisfaction when I finally click add to cart and buy, will make this treasure all the more worth having. Here’s my wish list treasure, what’s yours?
Where to buy it: UberKate Everyday Gemstone Ring Blush Quartz Duet $245
